STILLWATER – It was a rough day offensively for Oklahoma State as they fell to No. 6 Texas, 56-46. With the loss, the Cowboys dropped to 9-6 on the season and 1-2 in Big 12 play.

“It wasn’t just late. It was pretty much most of the night,” Cowboys head coach Mike Boynton said of the offense not delivering late and pushing through at the end. “It was our defense just holding the line and our transition defense didn’t hold up. It was a critical time in the game and after a three, which I think was our last basket in the game and give it right back in transition on a foul and that stops your momentum. We have to be better in those situations.”

Cowboys’ head coach Mike Boynton met with the media following the game to discuss the loss and how the team moves forward.

Mike is really likeable but at some point you have to admit you need better players. We say he's a good recruiter but the results and the product says our players are inconsistent and offensively, everything is hard! We simply do not have scorers that do it EVERY NIGHT. A scorer scores despite defensive attention from opponents. We don't have those players.

Until we can get a couple of those bell cow scorers that can score every night we will continue to get beat despite working hard defensively and actually making it tough on opponents. This league is too tough and virtually all opponents have those kind of players and we do not.

I don't think its better players. We have talent, they just have not been coached well enough offensively. They don't play offense most of the time, they just randomly chuck the ball about. Talent doesn't correct bad passing and impatience. That's about coaching.

This year has seen a little progress, but still enough we can't pull out winnable games like KU & UT.
