STILLWATER – Oklahoma State just landed its second transfer wide receiver of this signing class. Leon Johnson III took to Twitter following his official visit to announce his commitment to the Pokes.

He joins fellow West Coast receiver De’Zhaun Stribling, who committed and signed to the Pokes following transferring from Washington State. He marks the second transfer commitment in as many days as former Texas Tech and Michigan quarterback, Alan Bowman, announced his commitment to the Pokes on Monday.

Based on our count of who’s returning and who the coaching staff is bringing in, it’s likely they’ll try to bring in one to two more receivers in the class.

Johnson III checks in at 6-5, 207 pounds and is coming off a monster season in 2022. He finished his senior season with 55 catches for 1,156 yards and 14 touchdowns. For his efforts, he was tabbed an AFCA DIII First Team All-American, as well as the Northwest Conference Offensive Player of the Year, a NWC First Team selection and D3Football.com All-Region.

His 1,205 all-purpose yards, 1,154 receiving yards, 174 yards against Redlands in the season opener, 14 receiving touchdowns, three receiving touchdowns against Redlands and 11 receptions against Pacific Lutheran all broke and set program records.

In his two previous seasons, not playing the 2020 season, Johnson III hauled in 25 receptions for 450 yards and six touchdowns as a true freshman in 2019, earning NWC honorable mention, and 30 receptions for 540 yards and three touchdowns in 2021.

Johnson III will have one year of eligibility remaining.

I like him a lot, hopefully Coach Glass put some meat on him and he balls out for us. He can be our catch the fade on endzone for TDs guy!

Good job! Tall receivers that can run are wonderful.

Go watch his film from last season which was his breakout, he looks like a slimmer version of Adarius Bowman! There are film clips on both YouTube and Twitter from a Seattle area reporter! See Ian Furness onTwitter.
