Hoops Game Column: K-State Finds A Way, Meanwhile Pokes Seem Lost

Our defense can be excellent at times and generally good overall. However, we often fail to get stops in crunch time. On the play that killed us, we triple teamed Newell and left Johnson alone under the basket. Newell is a heady player and found Johnson for the easy bucket. Game over. This team defines the words undisciplined and inconsistent. They are painful to watch.

News here includes new commitment to recruiting class but we need a commitment from the starting guards on the current team. Shooting and turnover prone play is pathetic!!

My own opinion of the loss, based on what I witnessed on TV, was poor 3-pt shooting from Thompson and Harris. Both of those players had a chance to win it for us down the down the stretch had they hit their 3-pt attempts. Continued poor play (turnovers and scoring drought) from Anderson was also a key detriment in the loss. Missing Cisse was big, as well. All of these players are elite quality, but just aren't producing like we need. I have no problem with Boynton or coaching. The team seems to be playing under control and getting good shot selection.
