Oklahoma State Lands Commitment From 2023 Four-Star Forward Eric Dailey

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State’s 2023 class just got even better as four-star forward, Eric Dailey Jr. announced his commitment to Mike Boynton and Co. and the Pokes.

Dailey checks in at 6-7, 215 pounds, and is out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. He chose the Pokes over Memphis and going the pro route, but he held offers from Florida State, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, TCU and Texas A&M among others.

Dailey adds to the already loaded 2023 class of top-50 prospect Brandon Garrison, four-star forward Justin McBride, top-150 guard Jamyron Keller and in-state standout forward Connor Dow.

There’s a lot of familiarity with the 2023 class for the Pokes as both Dailey Jr. and Garrison helped USA Basketball to the gold medal in the 2022 FIBA U19 Americas Championship, a team Mike Boynton was an on-court assistant four.

However, Dailey’s also won gold with the USA in the 2021 FIBA  3x3 U18 World Cup, as well as the 2021 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup dunk contest.

In the six games this summer with USA Basketball, Dailey averaged 9.5 points on 42% shooting from the field in 18.2 minutes per game.

Dailey checks in as the No. 57 overall prospect in the 2023 class according to On3’s consensus rankings.

it certainly looks promising for the future, but I suppose it depends on who we have returning next year.

There are several that could test the NBA waters at the close of the season. We probably won't know much about that for a few more months.

relying on 5 freshman would not be the ideal lineup, we'll need some of the current roster too.

Thompson, Cisse, Tyreek W., Q. Williams, KA-BOOM and Newton would go a long way toward a good team.

Totally this. Hopefully they can pickup a solid PG in the portal or expect more of the same.

Another great pickup for Boynton. But I'll say the quiet part out loud: at some point he's got to start winning. OSU basketball has been a bucketful of unrealized potential for years. We need the W's to start happening.

Hope Boynton can find a 3-point shooter with 3-pt% like Randy Rutherford, JamesOn Curry, Obi Muonelo, KeitOn Page, Phil Forte or Thomas Dziagwa.

Frankly the man can't coach. They need to negotiate a buy out after this season.

You are correct ... at some point the W's need to follow .... that said, for a coach who not only enjoys recruiting, but clearly is good at it, his player(s) like him and play hard for him and can clearly coach (this team rebounds and plays defense very well) (+) the majority of the fan base likes .... AND competes in the toughest BB conference in the country? For that......I have alot of patience with a coach like that ....

why? because enventually, the breakthru will happen and all the missing pieces (shooters this year) will be in place .... in short, he recruits and has proven he can coach .... any other conference he would be posting more than enough W's already ...

He has the #1 defensive team..... in the top conference in the nation ...that has shooting issues .... and that makes him a bad coach ? ...... ummm

The issue is roster construction and in game coaching. He's had time to fix those issues, it's part of the job description.

the clock ran out when he went one-n-done with Cunningham on the roster. One post season NCAA dance in 6 years is not getting it done. He has a dismal .55% winning percentage and never higher than a 5th place finish in the conference. Top dollar 3 million dollar payday for a middle of the pack coach.

The NCAA sanctions had nothing to do with it because we're just now limiting scholarships (not the 1st 5 years)

The NCAA thing doesn't and never did affect his in-game coaching. If a coach is any good he can take his players and beat you, and he can turn around and take your players and beat you. He can't coach or construct a roster.
