Opponent Preview: Oklahoma State for Big 12 Road Clash With Baylor

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State’s (9-7 overall, 1-3 Big 12 play) looking to bounce back from a disappointing 65-57 loss to No. 11 Kansas State, as the Pokes are in Waco, TX, for a showdown with Baylor (11-5 overall, 1-3 Big 12 play).

Other than a 77-62 loss to Iowa State to start Big 12 play, the Bears have played two very close games in conference play. They had a chance to knock off No. 17 TCU in Waco, 88-87, on Jan. 4, then dropped an overtime heartbreaker to Kansas State in Waco, 97-95.

They did, however, pick up their first conference win on the road in Morgantown, WV, with an 83-78 win over West Virginia.

As a team, the Bears are averaging 81 points per game, while holding opponents to just 70.3 points. They’re shooting an impressive 46% from the field as a team, 36% from 3-point range and 74% from the free throw line. On the other end, opponents are shooting 43% from the field, 34% from 3-point range and 70% from the free throw line.

They’re outrebounding opponents 36 to 31 a game, while forcing 15 turnovers and turning it over nearly 14 times a game. They also record nearly eight steals and 3.3 blocks per game.

Freshman Keyonte George is leading the way in scoring for the Bears with 17.8 points per game on nearly 40% shooting from the floor. He’s also shooting 35% from 3-point range and third on the stat sheet in rebounds with 4.6 per game.

Redshirt senior Adam Flagler is next on the team in scoring with 16.9 points per game on 46% shooting from the field and a blistering 48% from 3-point range.

Junior LJ Cryer is also averaging double figure scoring for the Bears with 13.8 points on 44% shooting from the field, 34.6% from 3-point range.

Fifth year forward Flo Thamba leads the Bears in rebounds with 5.3 per game, as well averaging 5.2 points per game. West Virginia transfer, junior Jalen Bridges is next in rebounds with 5.2 per game. He’s also averaging 8.9 points per game on 47% shooting from the field.
