STILLWATER – More good news for Oklahoma State football as the extended recruiting weekend of the Martin Luther King Day Monday holiday will allow for another set of official visitors starting Sunday. The first wave had four players committing to Oklahoma State. The latest is Aledo, Texas slot receiver Jalen Pope.

The 5-11, 180-pound speedster that has clocked a 4.49 in the forty joins Michigan State graduate running back Elijah Collins, former Iowa Hawkeyes and junior-to-be multiple-talented skill player and return specialist Arland Bruce IV, and Enid, Okla. All-State and record setting receiver Tykie Andrews. Andrews was also coached at Enid by Oklahoma State two-time All-American and Hall of Fame wide receiver Rashaun Woods.

Pope is an exceptional talent that was a key reason that powerhouse Aledo was able to collect another Texas State Championship this season. This year the Bearcats took the Texas Class 5A-Division I title.

Playing in AT&T Cowboys Stadium the Bearcats dominated the title game with a rousing 52-14 win over College Station. Pope had eight receptions for 228-yards and some huge explosive plays and three touchdowns. On the season, Pope was named 1st-Team District 5A-3 receiver with 64 catches for 1,252-yards and 14 touchdowns including a 19.6-yards per catch average. In his Aledo career, Pope has 82 grabs for 1,595-yards and 20 touchdowns.

The senior season was huge, and it is why Oklahoma State has jumped in where Air Force, Tulsa, Columbia and some other smaller schools were recruiting. Late developing player with great numbers playing for a high-powered winning tradition program.

Tykie Andrews of Enid committed earlier in the day.

Pope joins Tykie Andrews in a recruiting class that includes 17 other signees and six of those are on campus and enrolled with classes beginning Tuesday. That group includes quarterback Zane Flores, the Gatorade and MaxPreps Nebraska Player of the Year and junior college standouts in defensive tackle Iman Oates and All-American cornerback Lardarius Webb Jr.

Collins and Bruce IV are part of an NCAA transfer portal class that also includes nine others with quarterback Alan Bowman and University of Tulsa All-Conference defenders in linebacker Justin Wright and defensive end Anthony Goodlow. Most are on campus and ready for class on Tuesday.

Are we done gaining signees from the portal for now? I had expected another "get" this evening since the spring term starts tomorrow.
unknown.

1) you can enroll an start school up to a week late, I think.... before hard cut-off

2) you can still take kids out of the portal (at any time), but they won't be on campus for the Spring, if they don't get enrolled.

Also, the next Portal window (to enter) occurs in May.

only HS kids have an early signing "window" (2 actually)

It was one of their like 4 collectives. It raised that in 72hrs. We did ok, we aren't near where we should be. Also, had about 8k from my account, but who's counting. It doesn't matter. We all bleed orange, I just want more from a program that deserves better.
Good to know you are up on that Zero U News!!! ROTFLMAO!!!

Living in Aledo and having watched this young man play, I can tell you the Cowboys are lucky to have him. You have to know Aledo and the type of offense they run. They rely on the run first, pass second. Jalens stats would have been even higher if that were reversed. The kid is at the same talent level as some of the other kids that were recruited out of this school such as RB Jase MCClellan at Alabama, WR JoJo Earle once at Alabama and now TCU.
