It was a rough night for Oklahoma State from start to finish as the Pokes are blown out by Baylor on the road in Waco, TX, 74-58.

With the loss, the Cowboys move to 9-8 on the season and start Big 12 play 1-4. Next on the schedule is the home Bedlam game against Oklahoma on Wednesday, January 17. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. on ESPNU.

Caleb Asberry led the way in scoring for the Pokes off the bench as he finished with 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting, 4-of-11 from 3-point range. He also finished with a team-high seven rebounds.

Avery Anderson III ended his scoring struggles as he finished with 11 points on the night, eight of which came in the first half. Bryce Thompson also got off his snide as he finished with nine points on 4-of-10 shooting. However, John-Michael Wright’s slump got worse as he scored zero points on 0-5 shooting from the floor, all from 3-point range. He played just 18 minutes as he picked up four fouls.

Moussa Cisse missed his second-straight game with a high ankle injury he sustained in the game against Texas. Despite two-straight strong performances, Kalib Boone struggled in Waco as he scored his first point of the game with a free throw with three minutes left in the game. He finished with eight points and three rebounds.

The team’s 3-point shooting woes showed back up in this game as the Pokes combined for a paltry 21% mark on 7-of-33 shooting. While they missed just three free throws, they only attempted eight free throws on the night.

The Bears outrebounded the Pokes 41-30 overall, 30-22 on the defensive end.

The Bears started the game off on a hot streak jumping out to a 13-0 lead on 4-of-4 shooting, while the Cowboys missed their first four shots. Anderson III ended the snide with a layup at the 15:30 mark of the first half, which started a quick 13-4 run for the Pokes, cutting Baylor’s lead to just two, 17-15.

The Bears finished the half on a 19-8 run to enter the break with a 39-23 lead.

The second half started similar to the first half the Bears came out and extended their lead up to 20 points less than three minutes into the second half, 45-25.

After a near-20-minute power outage in the Ferrell Center, the Bears jumped out to their largest lead of the game, 28-points, 64-36. The Cowboys cut into that lead on back-to-back 3-point buckets from Thompson and Asberry, making it a 66-42 lead for the Bears.

Really one of the few lone highlights in the second half for the Pokes as they finished the game on a 6-0 run, hitting four-straight field goals, which included a 3-pointer by Caleb Asberry with 18 seconds left in the game.

Great athletes but not sure they are great BB players. Sorry to be negative but this is as bad as I remember in the past 20 years and probably since before Eddie. No NCAA....at this pace no NIT. Something needs to change and quick. It is what it is......GO POKES!!!

we needed to go inside with the ball, but time after time we took bad treys early in the shot clock.... horrible basketball.

Eddie would have had them sitting the bench and playing the walkons.

just horrible basketball

That photo of Avery's quad is by far the most impressive thing we've shown all year.

Live by the three and die by the three. No need to have players, without mobile ball skills, handling the ball out at the three-point line and beyond. That scheme is a turnover waiting to happen. Mike needs to figure out an offensive scheme that throws the ball inside to Cisse, Smith and Boone more than once every other trip up the floor.
