Opponent Preview: Oklahoma State Set to Host No. 12 Iowa State

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is fresh off a 72-56 Bedlam win over in-state rivals Oklahoma, which means the Pokes will be hosting No. 12 Iowa State this weekend in GIA.

Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, Jan. 21, and will be streamed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.

The Cyclones held on for an impressive 78-67 win over No. 7 Texas in Ames, IA, on Tuesday, marking their fifth Big 12 win and bringing them to 14-3 overall on the season.

On the season, ISU is averaging 71.2 points per game on 46% shooting from the floor, including a 36% clip from 3-point range. On the other end, the Cyclones are holding opponents to 58.5 points per game on 40% shooting from the floor, including a 29% clip from 3-point range.

They’re outrebounding opponents 33.4 to 31.5 boards per game, while dishing out 15.9 assists per game. They commit 12.5 turnovers per game, while the defense forces an impressive 19.1 turnovers per game. Off those turnovers, the Cyclones are averaging 21.4 points.

Senior guard Jaren Holmes leads ISU in scoring this season with 13.2 points per game on 40% shooting from the field and nearly 40% from 3-point range. He’s also second on the team in assists per game with 3.1. He is, however, leading the team in turnovers with 2.4 per game.

Senior guard Gabe Kalscheur is second on the stat sheet with 12.7 points per game on nearly 43% shooting from the field and 35% from 3-point range.

Senior guard Caleb Grill is also in double figures on the season with 10.9 points on an impressive 58% from the field. He’s also leading the team in 3-point percentage with a clip of 38% per game, as well as rebounds with 4.4 per game.
