Game Flow

• Kalib Boone started the scoring for the Pokes for the 12th time this season with an and-1 to go up 3-0.
• The Cowboys first nine points all came off an offensive rebound, taking a 9-5 lead into the first media timeout.
• Three-straight made field goals by the Cowboys extended the lead to 18-10 with 11:41 left in the first half. John-Michael Wright and Kalib Boone combined for 10 points on 4-for-4 shooting from the floor.
• Moussa Cisse returned to the court after a one-game absence and immediately made an impact on the defensive end, blocking one shot while the Cowboys held the Rebels to three points in Cisse’s first four minutes.
• Woody Newton’s eight points led the Cowboys as OSU took a 29-18 lead into a timeout with 5:05 remaining in the half.
• OSU outscored Ole Miss 20-to-6 in the paint during the first half as the Cowboys took a 38-27 lead into the halftime break. Newton paced the Pokes with 12 points and Boone added another nine as the Cowboys shot 52 percent from the floor.
• The Cowboys defense smothered the Rebels throughout the first five minutes of the second half, allowing just one made basket as the lead stretched to 16 points, 48-32.
• Nine-straight points from Avery Anderson III kept the offense rolling, extending the lead to 58-37 at the under-12 timeout.
• OSU continued to keep Ole Miss at a comfortable distance, leading 62-48 with 6:33 left to play.
• The Cowboys finished the game strong, winning comfortably by a final score of 82-60.

Game Notes 

• Head coach Mike Boynton went with Avery Anderson III, Bryce Thompson, John-Michael Wright, Kalib Boone and Woody Newton as the starting-five for the fourth-straight game.
• Avery Anderson III has found a groove scoring the ball, reaching double-figures in four of his past five after scoring 17 against the Rebels. Anderson III did most of his damage at the free-throw line, becoming the first Cowboys to go 11-for-11 since Phil Forte III against Central Arkansas on Nov. 14, 2016. That number is the most made without a miss since Cam McGriff made all 13 attempts on Feb. 10, 2018.
• The 22-point win is the largest for the Cowboys in the Big 12/SEC challenge since beating Arkansas 99-71 on Jan. 28, 2017.
• Woody Newton had his best game as a Cowboys, tying a career-high 12 points on 5-for-6 shooting, one block and one three-pointer made.
• Kalib Boone continues to dominate the paint on both sides of the floor, scoring 18 points on a perfect 6-for-6 from the field while grabbing four rebounds and blocking one shot.
• John-Michael Wright provided a punch for the Cowboys offense against Ole Miss, scoring 10 points with two made three-pointers. Wright has made two or more three-pointers 12 times this season, while shooting at a 34.6 percent clip.
• Quion Williams brought great energy off the bench, grabbing a team-high six rebounds and scoring five points.
• OSU has found success on the offensive end lately, scoring 30 or more points in five-straight halves of basketball and six of its last seven. OSU has reached the 40-point mark in three of its last seven halves.
• As a team, the Cowboys have reached at least three blocks in all 21 games this season. OSU leads the Big 12 with 5.6 blocked shots per game, which ranks 10th in the country.
• The Cowboys lead the Big 12 and rank sixth in the country in FG percentage defense, holding opponents to 38 percent on the season. Saturday was no different, as the Cowboys held Ole Miss to 36 percent shooting.
• OSU has held 17 of its 21 opponents to 35 percent shooting or less from the three-point line, and 12 of 21 have shot less than 30 percent.
