STILLWATER – Wednesday, Feb. 1 was day two of the Reese’s Senior Bowl practices with most of the NFL in the form of scouts, coaches, and player-personnel staff there in Mobile to watch the practices. The practices have always been said to be even more important than the game at the Senior Bowl. The pads came on Wednesday and the lone participant from Oklahoma State is defensive lineman Tyler Lacy. Checking out the practice recap show it was not such a great day on video for Lacy.

The NFL Network showed parts of practice and Lacy on the National squad was show in a full team period and he was coming off the edge and was blocked out of the play and behind the quarterback. Later they showed offensive line and defensive line pass pro work and Lacy going inside against Chattanooga guard McClendon Curtisstymied Lacy at the line of scrimmage. In a later rep, Lacy was outside going against BYU offensive tackle Blake Frreland, who was guilty of holding Lacy, but was able to hold Lacy off. The flag almost surely would have come out on the rep if it were a real play in a game.

The Reese’s Senior Bowl practices continue on Thursday.

Thursday night at 7:30 ct in Las Vegas, Nev. the East-West Shrine Bowl will be played and Oklahoma State deep snapper Matt Hembrough will be playing for the East team. Hembrough may have the best shot of any Oklahoma State senior to make an NFL team this summer. He was money at Oklahoma State and never had a single bad snap on placements or punts.

In the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calf. last Saturday they played the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. The American squad defeated the National 19-17 and there were two Oklahoma State players on the losing side. Wide receiver Braydon Johnson played but did not register a statistic. I’m not even sure if Johnson got a target.

On the other side of the ball, All-American safety Jason Taylor II led his team in tackles with six stops and he also had a fumble forced. Taylor II has a good chance of getting drafted as he had plenty of tackles and in his senior season he picked off six passes. He is a ballhawker kind of player.
