STILLWATER – Up in Kansas City the word is that Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark will be joined courtside during the league’s quarterfinals at the Big 12 Championship Tournament by Shaquille O'Neal. The former NBA All-Star and Hall of Fame center is performing on Saturday night as his DJ persona “Diesel”. The way things are going Yormark may soon earn a nickname.

He was impressive in his interview with ESPN's folks at the tournament.

Bottom line is that the B12 or whatever you want to call it is in 3rd place, sucking hind tit as it relates to revenue. Adding the "four corners" does nothing to raise status of league and/or raise revenue. Playing at 9:30 at nite on occasion does nothing for a huge majority of the fanbase. Much less tv dollars. Everyone involved will be hoping for an invite from the two premier conferences.

I'm not sure you're seeing the big picture.

If we add the 4-corner schools, it will kill a P5 conference - that's one less conference and roughly 75 fewer P5 games seeking broadcast. Thus, the value of the resulting B12 goes up, as does its exposure, as does its relevance within the sport, putting the conference as a clear #3. When the time comes for a new media deal, hopefully we can begin closing some of the value gap with the SEC/B1G and further distancing ourselves from the ACC which will still be on their existing media deal. But regardless of the gap between the B12 and the SEC/B1G, the B12 will have cemented itself as 'highly relevant" conference with significantly less fear of being left behind.

In short, call it security without near-term cost and potential increased long-term value. What's not to like?

I just don't think it's a value add, period. i know I am just one person out of thousands, but my give a crap about college sports and OSU specifically is down the crapper. We're in a MWC that has no forseeable future as is or with adds from an almost defunct P12. Yorberg or whatever his name is is trying to capture 4 time zones is laughable. MBB has been a loser except for March tourney time for a long while now. Pumping up the status of mens bb is like rearranging the deck chairs on the titantic.

Who knows what the future holds for college sports and OSU?

Forget basketball for this moment.

You'd rather the B12 stay pat, the P12 survive and add 2-4 teams and then compete with the B12 for (1) the next media deal, (2) broadcast time slots, and (3) spots in the CFP?

That's really weird.

If it's not premium, my bad.

Regardless, as a premium member, why do you care?

I was contemplating becoming a free member in off season. Was going through the difference in quality of premium article when compared to free ones to see if its worth it. I am puzzled that this one is "Premium" which I thought was reserved for the ones which has some kind of inside info or info which is not publicly available.

I wanted to know if the premium tag was added to this by mistake or if this is actually the quality of "Premium" article that we might expect.

... and the B1G conference already did that with Rutgers/Maryland on one coast and USC/UCLA on the other. Maybe the Mountain is not covered, but that's not the whole point, almost nit picking, the B1G is coast to coast.

They did it for the brands (USC in particular and market size for Maryland and Rutgers), not the time zones. You think anyone will watch Indiana/USC at 7 PST and 10 EST?

USC at least draws eyeballs. OSU? TCU? At 9 on a Friday or Saturday nite? Ummm, I don't think so. At least I'm about to stay up till 9 to watch OSU/AZ play, or even ISU vs OSU if it's a late kickoff on a Friday or Thursday. Heck, I haven't seen a nite time BB game in years.

it does not matter WHY they did it, they did it FIRST. USC vs Maryland will have much higher viewership than Arizona vs UCF.

I'm not sure what your point even was.

IT has been done already, Yourmark is providing nothing unique.
