OSU and Arkansas to Remember the Ten and Honor Eddie on Saturday

STILLWATER – The week of Jan. 27 is always a tough one for the Oklahoma State family. Remember the 10. It’s a time of honor, celebration and mourning. However, this year’s Remember the Ten game will have an added element of those three things as Oklahoma State and Arkansas, the Pokes’ Big 12/SEC Challenge opponent, will be honoring the long-time head coach at both programs, Eddie Sutton.

Both teams will be honoring the legend with special shooting shirts and with tributes throughout the game.

This will be the 52nd all-time meeting between these two programs and Oklahoma State has had a bulk of the success in this series as they hold a 36-15 lead over the Razorbacks. The Cowboys also hold a 13-4 advantage in Stillwater having won 10 of the last 12 matchups in GIA. As for the Razorbacks, their last win on the white maple came in 1966.

It’s almost poetic that Arkansas is the team the Cowboys will be hosting for the annual Remember the Ten game as Eddie was extremely successful with programs. He spent 11 seasons in Fayetteville and posted a 260-75 record with the Razorbacks, including five Southwest Conference titles, nine NCAA tournament appearances and a trip to the Final Four in 1978.

As for his time in Stillwater, Sutton cemented himself as one of the greatest college coaches of all time. He spent 16 seasons at his alma mater and racked up an impressive 368-151 record with 13 NCAA tournament appearance, made the Final Four in 1995 and 2004, three regular season conference championships in 1991, 2004 and 2005 and three tournament conference championships in 1995, 2004 and 2005.

And after several long years of waiting and waiting, coach Sutton was finally inducted into the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame in the spring of 2020 before his passing in May.
