STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men’s basketball has lost another player to the transfer portal. Redshirt junior Tyreek Smith retweeted an announcement on Wednesday that he’s entered his name into the transfer portal.

Smith will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next school.

Smith, forward out of Baton Rouge, LA, has been a key member of the roster the past two seasons following his transfer from Texas Tech. This past season as a redshirt junior, Smith averaged 5.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game and was vital down the stretch for the Pokes as he scored double figures in three of the final six games as a starter.

As a redshirt sophomore, Smith averaged 3.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.6 blocks per game.

Smith is now the fifth player to enter the portal since the end of the season, joining guard Avery Anderson, center Kalib Boone, center Moussa Cisse and wing Woody Newton.

Mike Boynton and Co. will now have four scholarships to fill ahead of the 2023-24 season. There’s also another scholarship to give up based on the NCAA sanctions. So, it’s possible Boynton and Co. will fill only three of the spots.
