STILLWATER – Oklahoma State has officially made it official with East Carolina transfer guard, Javon Small.
The program announced his signing via a press release.
Small still has two years of eligibility remaining.
"We're really looking forward to having Javon in a Cowboy uniform," head coach Mike Boynton said in the release. "His ability to create shots for himself and others addresses an area where we need improvement. He is fearless and selfless.
"His family, especially his mom, Jovanna, has really helped develop a high-level competitor and someone with great desire to win," Boynton said.
As a sophomore this past season with ECU, Small led the team in scoring with 16 points a game, while bringing down nearly five rebounds per game. The area where Small really shined was in the assists column as he dished out 100 in just 18 games, nearly six assists per game.
“He reached a double-figure scoring total in 15 games in 2022-23, including a 23-point effort against Cincinnati in what ended up being his final game in an ECU uniform due to injury. His season-high scoring output was a 27-point performance on just 11 field goals attempted against Indiana State.
A four-star transfer prospect according to 247sports and a proven Division I playmaker, Small joins a 2023 Oklahoma State recruiting class that garnered a top 10 national ranking from both Rivals (No. 9) and ESPN (No. 10) even before his arrival. In addition to Small, OSU's incoming class includes McDonald's All-American Brandon Garrison (Del City, Okla.), Team USA U18 standout Eric Dailey Jr., a pair of top-150 national recruits in Justin McBride (Plano, Texas) and Jamyron Keller (Killeen, Texas) and Connor Dow (Broken Arrow, Okla.)”
