Oklahoma State Loses Out on Tulsa Transfer Forward

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State hosted talented Tulsa transfer forward, Bryant Selebangue, this weekend on an official visit. However, it was reported that Selebangue committed to Arizona State on Monday.

This is a tough one as he was an hour east of Stillwater and averaged 12 points per game on nearly 62% shooting from the field and 9.2 rebounds for the Golden Hurricane. Honestly, one of the very few positives from the five wins TU had this past season.

To say the Cowboys have had a rough go of it with the transfer portal since the end of the season would be a bit of an understatement. There’re currently six players in the portal, with G Avery Anderson III committing to TCU, C Kalib Boone to UNLV, C Moussa Cisse (uncommitted), F Tyreek Smith (SMU), G/F Woody Newton to George Mason and G Chris Harris II (uncommitted).

They did, however, land East Carolina transfer Javon Small, a talented guard who can distribute the ball and score at a high clip, leaving at least one guard spot and three forward/center spots to fill.

So, what’s next? Honestly, we’re not too sure. Taking a look at the handful of transfer prospects they’ve either offered and/or hosted, USC transfer Tre White is trending towards Louisville, but I certainly wouldn’t rule out Texas Tech. Oregon State transfer Glenn Taylor Jr. committed to St. John’s on May 1.

Santa Clara transfer guard Carlos Stewart committed to LSU a few weeks back and Kansas transfer MJ Rice committed to NC State.

North Texas guard Tylor Perry left the Cowboys out of his top schools list a few weeks back. Niagara transfer guard Noah Thomasson is set to announce his commitment on May 10, but left the Cowboys off his top schools list and Butler transfer Simas Lukosius committed to Cincinnati last week.

We’re certainly keeping an eye out on the transfer portal and keeping our ears to the ground for any news of potential new offers/visitors. But, one thing to keep in mind is Bryce Thompson and Caleb Asberry didn’t commit until the second week of May and Moussa Cisse didn’t commit until the second week of July. So, while it might seem dire, there’s still plenty of time for Boynton and Co. to get something done.

Not looking good for the guys in orange. Seem to be striking out on everyone other than Small. I'm sure they will get 3-4 guys but definitely looking like they will be pretty low on the wish list.

Now we can watch Bryce Thompson play power forward and center....Ha!.... The freshmen will need to carry the team. GO POKES!!!

Tyreek is going to SMU according to On3.

Is there any hope that Cisse doesn't get picked up due to the need for a waiver and stays at OSU?

What's going on? Is it Boynton's coaching? NIL? Ass't coaches not recruiting up to par? This story doesn't seem to be one with a happy ending…

I'll take Boynton's coaching for $1,000, Tommy

this happens every single year. Personally, I think last year was worse.

there is no discipline on they team, Boynton lets them run up and down and do whatever they feel like... that's just his style.

we have no PG play, no post play, everybody just plays the 2 or 3 position regardless of where they are on the court and regardless of their skill set.

I think there is a chance

Well, I would bet we can still use Cisse if he wants to return, but Mike Marsh a 6'11" F from Jacksonville State committed to OSU this morning. So Boynton has landed a big man.

Marsh's stats suggest he is more of a scorer vs defender. It would be nice to also have Cisse back to block shots and battle with the likes of Dickinson.

Totally agree, and for depth the more you have the better.

Boynton s teams lack of discipline is the most disturbing thing. He seems to think length and athleticism will win games. Scoring and running sets wins games.
