STILLWATER – One major source of optimism for Oklahoma State football in 2023 is the excitement over a new defensive coordinator that head coach Mike Gundy handpicked in Bryan Nardo.

The biggest key by far is whether we'll have a serviceable offensive line. I don't blame the media for taking a "wait and see" approach there because we were horrendous on OL last season and injuries didn't help.

Anytime you go with more three down fronts with more standup players you MUST get great run fits from second level defenders. In most cases, at least early, getting those down and having players fill with proper hole fits and getting downhill quick enough takes time. I hope we get that down asap because you don't relish having to watch offenses gash you because you have players hesitant, run themselves out of position, then start thinking instead of reacting.

We were bad at the end of the year so improvement should happen. How much is the million dollar question.?

As always the oddsmakers are playing to get bets, they aren't predicting anything. Make UT a favorite and the dumb horns will rush out and dump a ton of money on them. OSU only gets a few bets anyway, you can get a few more putting us low.

Reality nobody knows how good or bad we will be. If we're honest with each other we have a better than 50/50 chance of not being very good. A lot of things have to work out well and fall our way for OSU to have a successful season.
I wonder what those sportsbook organizations had TCU ranked last year at this time? And for the record, I never want to play the underdog, I want OSU to be the frontrunner all the time whether deserved or not. It means you have a great program that people respect.

College Football News has Cowboys and Sooners at 8 wins. Longhorns at 8.5.

CFN has Cowboys defeating the Sooners and playing Texas in the Big 12 Championship game.

in all likelihood, both Vegas and CFN will have very different numbers listed this fall.

both readily admit that it is way, way early post-spring first impression stuff.

CBS doesn't seem to think much of next year's Pokes either.....

Oklahoma State

A crash is coming: The Cowboys rank as one of the biggest losers of the transfer portal after losing essentially the entire offense following the 2022 season. Oklahoma State lost five of its top six receivers, its two top rushers and longtime quarterback Spencer Sanders. Transfer quarterback Alan Bowman showed massive talent at Texas Tech but could never stay healthy. Only one incoming pass-catcher has more than 1,000 yards receiving at the FBS level. Mix that with a defense that rated among the worst in the country, and the Cowboys are in big trouble.
