Bryan Nardo Hitting DFW and CenTex and Finding Players
STILLWATER – Coaches on the road recruiting for Oklahoma State. We know that offensive line coach Charlie Dickey was in Texarkana on Tuesday and was at Pleasant Grove High School to check on on Pokes pledge Caleb Hackleman and then made his way nort the Fort Smith, Ark, to visit Southside High School and see big Kobe Branham. Oklahoma State coaches are out all over the place and that includes new defensive coordinator Bryan Nardo. A friend of mine that coaches at another Division I school called and said he ran into Nardo on the road.
“Good guy. I knew him when he was at Emporia State,” said my friend. “He certainly has adapted and Coach Nardo is really fired up about Oklahoma State.”
That’s not unexpected as Nardo comes off as a very energetic and enthusiastic individual. You know the kind of guy that seems like he never has a bad day. If he does, he isn’t going to show it.
Nardo offered Killeen Shoemaker High School safety Malik Esquerra.
The 6-3, 185-pound Esquerra has four offers now including Nebraska, Vanderbilt, and Texas Tech, who lately seems to be trolling the Cowboys. On Saturday Texas Tech offered within 10 minutes after Oklahoma State offered lightly recruited, but talented Olathe East offensive lineman Brett Carroll.
Esquerra is a physical player and last season really jumped off the page in progressing as a player. He finished with 68 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, four interceptions, and one fumble forced. I would expect to see Esquerra in Stillwater soon, quite possibly for “The Show” camp in June.
