Oklahoma State Gets a Top Texas 2024 DB to Set a Visit/Another Set to Visit June 15

May 19, 2023

STILLWATER – No new commitments but some promising news even some firey news on the recruiting front.

Nardo and some of the other Oklahoma State defensive assistants have been in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex the past week and they’ve made some progress. It appeared that Duncanville, Texas cornerback Ka’Davion Dotson was done with Oklahoma State as the 6-0, 180-pound speedster had 27 offers. Down the road one of the better safeties in Texas in Byron Nelson High School interception specialist David Kabongo was announcing a top five. Kabongo is an aggressive tackler and has seven interceptions the past two seasons.

“We had our spring game canceled tonight (May 19) because of weather, but the schools have been coming by and I’ve been getting the offers. I like Oklahoma State,” Kabongo said. “Coach Duff (Tim Duffie) first offered me in January, but I’ve seen Coach (Bryan) Nardo here and Coach Hammer (Dan Hammerschmidt. I liked Oklahoma State on my unofficial this spring. I liked the practice and the way they play. It’s a great place.”

He is scheduled to visit Oklahoma State on June 15, but also slated to be at Kansas on June 9 and Indiana on June 23. SMU and UTSA are also in his final five despite getting recent offers from the likes of Arizona State and Missouri.

SMU was on Kabongo’s final five and they are one of the official visits for this summer than Dotson announced.

No longer keeping it quiet, Dotson announced official visits to Oklahoma State on June 9 and to SMU on June 22. Big news for both schools because one recruiting site had LSU as almost a loack with Arkansas, Oregon, and Texas as the primary competition with 27 offers including Florida, Florida State, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Miami (Fla.), Missouri, Mississippi, TCU, Tennessee, and USC.

Honestly, I believe Oklahoma State wasn’t sure they were still involved and now it is clear they are with the visit coming up in June. The difference has to be the coaches. This is what Dotson told Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.

"Relationships," Dotson said to DCTF. "Just knowing that I'm being coached by guys that are trying to see the best in me every day. If I'm playing there, then for the next four years I am trying to get to the next level, so I gotta feel great about my coaches."

It would be a big coup to pull both these talented players as both are top 100 players in Texas.
