STILLWATER – Oklahoma State football just landed its seventh commitment in the 2024 class with Byron Nelson safety, David Kabongo.

Kabongo checks in at 5-11, 181-pounds and picked the Pokes over the other four schools in his top five of Indiana, Kansas, SMU and UTSA. The decision came after an official visit to Lawrence this past weekend.

He also held offers from Arizona State, Missouri, Texas, Texas Tech, Utah and Washington State among others.

Over the past two seasons, Kabongo has been an interception specialist as he’s hauled in seven picks during his sophomore and junior seasons.

This past season as a junior, Kabongo recorded 64 total tackles, 41 of which were solo stops, two tackles loss and one forced fumble and fumble recovery, along with two picks.

“Coach Duff [Tim Duffie] first offered me in January, but I’ve seen coach [Bryan] Nardo here and coach Hammer [Dan Hammerschmidt,]” Kabongo told Pokes Report back in May. “I liked Oklahoma State on my unofficial this spring. I liked the practice and the way they play. It’s a great place.”

Should his commitment stand, Kabongo is set to be on campus towards the end of the 2023 calendar year as he’s set to become a December graduate. Gundy and Co. have made an emphasis of trying to get as many as signees on campus at the semester break as they can to put them through a full winter off-season and spring football period.
