Boardley was committed to Oklahoma State as a linebacker, but was still at 6-0, 190 and looking more like an offensive skill player.

STILLWATER – It was something we had our eyes on as Oklahoma State kept picking up linebacker commitments with Gunnar Wilson, Temerrick Johnson, and most recently, Jonathan Agumadu was the commitment of Pleasant Grove High School’s Jaylen Boardley. He had committed to Oklahoma State, but in the spring the hope was that Boardley would get bigger. For some reason, Boardley decided to go on Twitter and announce his de-commitment from Oklahoma State.

Boardley played defense last season for the first time and his offensive numbers have been more impressive. Boardley on offense rushed for 1,219 yards and 20 touchdowns. he caught 23 passes for 428 yards and four scores to earn first-team all-district honors.

Boardley is a well built athlete and seemlingly could convert to defense, but maybe it will be at safety instead of linebacker.

Prior to his committing to Oklahoma State, he was entertaining offers from the likes of Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Houston, LSU, SMU, and Texas Tech.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Boardley.

Personally, which doesn’t matter, I like Boardley a lot. I would take him and plug him in where ever he fits. The understanding was, according to all I can gain was that he would be a linebacker and would need to get bigger. At the end of the day, I believe Oklahoma State has 12 good commitments without Boardley. The goal will be to have 20 plus (whatever the numbers call for) commitments on signing day in December and that Oklahoma State won’t look back and regret this one that looks like he will get away.
