SAN MARCOS, Texas – Oklahoma State continued its winning ways Thursday with a 3-0 victory over Texas State at the Bobcat Soccer Complex. With its third-straight win and first road triumph of the season, the Cowgirls improved to 4-1-0, while TSU fell to 2-3-0.
OSU entered the game eighth in the country in scoring and continued to rack up goals as Hannah Chance, Ellie Geoffroy and Xcaret Pineda found the back of the net. Grace Gordon collected a pair of saves to record her first shutout as a Cowgirl as OSU outshot the home team by a 15-7 margin and held a 12-3 edge on corner kicks.
Chance got things started, tallying her team-leading seventh goal of the season in the 13th minute. Megan Haines dribbled the ball into the box and delivered a cross that Logan Heausler back-heeled to a streaking Chance, who delivered it to the near post for a 1-0 lead.
Less than 10 minutes later, the Cowgirls doubled their advantage off a set piece as Pineda sent a corner into the box that found Geoffroy, who connected for her first goal of the season.
Just 70 seconds later, the lead reached 3-0 when Pineda stepped up and converted a penalty kick for her second goal of the year.
OSU returns to action Sunday when the Cowgirls host Central Arkansas. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Neal Patterson Stadium.
