FB Recruiting: Rodney Fields Continues Rolling Through Schedule and Crushing It
STILLWATER – It was listed as a Friday night game but the annual Mid-Del rivalry game was held Thursday night inside Robert Kalsu Stadium on the Del City High School campus and the Eagles with the likes of Oklahoma State commitment and standout running back Rodney Fields, quarterback River Warren, wide receiver LaDanian Fields, and linebackers Ricklan Holmes and Aaron Carter along with the entire team have been playing near flawless football in going 3-0. The latest conquest was 53-14 over the rival Bombers.
It started with the first play from scrimmage as the ball was handed to the Pokes running back commitment in the 5-10, 180-pound Fields who took it right up the middle through a big hole and sprinted home 72-yards with the touchdown. He would score another touchdown in the game and had a final stat line of 14 carries for 218-yards. He averaged a whopping 15.6-yards a carry.
On the season that makes 527-yards rushing and seven touchdowns for Fields. Fields also has am 88-yard kickoff return for an eighth touchdown on the season. Last week Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy came out and saw his 162-yards rushing and two touchdowns in an big win in shutout fashion 48-0 over Tulsa Booker T. Washington.
Del City head coach Robert Jones told me before the season that Fields was the best athlete he had seen at Del City in the nine years he’s been coaching there as defensive coordinator and head coach.
Next week Del City (4-0) has the week off before coming back and hosting Tulsa East Central on Sept. 22 at Kalsu Stadium at 7 p.m. The next chance you have to see Fields and his Eagle teammates play.
