I"m as big a MG fan as anybody, and I'll always appreciate what he has done for OSU football.
But
I think maybe his pride is talking when he discusses the current team problems. By insisting there are no major systemic problems, only "minor issues" to be addressed rather than admitting our past system of recruiting good athletes and building them into great football players, which served us well, doesn't work in an NIL and transfer portal world, he is setting himself and the coaching staff up for disastrous reviews if they can't get those "minor issues" fixed.
I'm very much on the outside looking in, so I don't know for sure about anything; but I'm not seeing any real changes from what we have always done on several levels. Maybe he knows better and is just trying to keep morale up while they search for something that works. Or maybe he and/or some of the long-term staff are just unwilling or unable to change, even though what we are currently doing is clearly not working anymore. What's clear is MG, and our team, have a world of problems right now and the clock is ticking.
