STILLWATER – Oklahoma State’s Ollie Gordon II did it again as he captured the Walter Camp National FBS Offensive Player of the Week, the Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week award and also added the Earl Campbell Award player of the week. Now, that’s awards in the name of three pretty amazing hall of fame runners. After picking up the Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor for a second straight week and an ESPN helmet sticker for the second week in a row, Gordon was set up to do the national double.

Gordon is the eighth Oklahoma State player to earn Walter Camp National FBS Player of Week honors since 2004, and the first since former quarterback Taylor Cornelius received the honor on September 17, 2018.

Gordon rushed for 282 yards and four touchdowns on 29 carries (9.7 yards per carry) in the road win. The performance marked the most rushing yards for an FBS player in a game this season.

Three of his touchdowns came in the fourth quarter, coming on 16-, 46- and 53-yard rushes. Gordon had five runs that gained more than 25 yards, with his longest carries on the day going for 53, 46, 34, 32, and 27 yards.

"His durability has been impressive. In the last few games, he's become a little bit elusive, which I don't think any of us thought that was part of his package,” head coach Mike Gundy said on Monday. “We thought he was more of a Keith Toston, pound and bounce off guys, move forward. His vision in this last game, he made cuts when they needed to happen which was really good, so I think he's starting to develop. We made a good move five weeks ago by changing what we were doing offensively, particularly in the running game and how we were doing it, and it fits his style, so we guessed right. He's developed into a good college runner based on the style and structures we've put him in."

His offensive line and his teammates on offense are enjoying the awards and love what their efforts are doing for the team through Ollie’s legs and efforts.

"It's really nice, because there's a trust between him and us,” offensive tackle Jake Springfield said on Monday night after practice. “Knowing that we're going to strain for the five or six seconds that we need to and he's going to hit the hole or he's going to make people miss, break a tackle and he can bust a long one. We got his back and I know that he's got our back."

He is first Cowboy with four rushing touchdowns in a game since Rennie Childs did so on September 17, 2016, against Pittsburgh, and it is the most rushing yards by a Cowboy since All-American Chuba Hubbard ran for 296 yards against Kansas State on September 28, 2019.

Gordon is also the first Cowboy with four straight 100-plus yard rushing games since Jaylen Warren had four straight during the 2021 season. He now has eight rushing touchdowns on the season and 10 in his career, and he has found the end zone in three consecutive games.

The Doak Walker Award has been awarded to the nation’s top running back since 1990, and since 2022, the award has recognized a national running back of the week. A select 20-person committee from the award’s full voting body of media and past winners chooses the weekly recipient.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, announced in 2012 by the Tyler Chamber and SPORTyler, recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity. In addition, the nominee must meet be born in Texas, have graduated from a Texas high school or play at a Texas-based college.

Gordon and the Cowboys return to action Saturday, playing Cincinnati at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
