Postgame Notes

  • Behind another huge game from Ollie Gordon II, Oklahoma State defeated Cincinnati, 45-13, on Saturday for its largest conference victory since beating TCU, 63-17, on November 13, 2021.
  • With the win, Oklahoma State moved into a five-way tie for first place in the Big 12 alongside Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas State and Iowa State.
  • The win made OSU bowl eligible for an 18th straight year, extending a school-record streak and the sixth-longest active streak in the nation.
  • Noting Ollie Gordon II’s performance against Cincinnati on Saturday:
  • Recorded 25 carries for 271 yards and two touchdowns along with four catches for 21 yards
  • Just the second player in program history with back-to-back games of 250+ rushing yards, joining Barry Sanders in 1988
  • Joins Boston College’s Andre Williams (2013) as the only two FBS players over the last 20 seasons with 250 scrimmage yards in three straight games
  • Most rushing yards in a two-game span (553) since Barry Sanders posted 625 yards against Iowa and Texas Tech in 1988
  • Made him the only player among Power Five conferences with multiple 200+ yard games on the ground this season
  • Reached 1,000 rushing yards for the season in just eight games, the quickest Cowboy to surpass the mark since Chuba Hubbard needed just six games in 2019

  • After posting 48 points last week against West Virginia, the Cowboys have scored 40+ points in consecutive games for the first time since games against TCU and Texas on October 15-22, 2022.
  • Following its second consecutive game without allowing a sack, the Cowboy offensive line has surrendered just one sack in the past four games.
  • OSU entered Saturday with 26 total points scored in the third quarter throughout the season, but pushed across 21 points in the third quarter against the Bearcats.
  • The Cowboys struck first for the fifth straight game as Alan Bowman found Josiah Johnson for 29-yard score to put OSU up, 7-0, early. The play marked Johnson’s first touchdown as a Cowboy and his first since November 13, 2021, against Maine while playing for Massachusetts. Additionally, the 29-yard gain was Johnson’s longest catch at OSU.
  • With the five-play, 64-yard touchdown drive on its first possession, Oklahoma State has scored on its opening drive in four straight games. On the flipside, the Cowboy defense has held its opponent scoreless on its opening drive in five straight games and has surrendered a score just once this season.

Johnson III hauled in his first FBS reception with three minutes remaining in the first quarter and finished the game with five catches for 149 yards, including a 67-yard gain in the second quarter.
