STILLWATER, Okla.— This Bedlam matchup was truly bedlam. There were a lot of back-and-forth scoring drives, tempers flared and the Cowboys played consistently to walk away with one more Bedlam win.

Although several big plays contributed to Oklahoma State’s success, there was one play that won the game for OSU.

With 1:01 left in the fourth quarter, the Cowboy defense forced quarterback Dillon Gabriel to go for it on 4th and 5. He threw up a pass intended for star receiver Drake Stoops, but freshman Dylan Smith broke up the pass to give the Cowboys the ball back. After he had possession again, quarterback Alan Bowman took a knee twice to win the game.

So many great plays led up to that moment, but Smith’s play made each of them worth it.

“I couldn’t have felt better seeing Dylan Smith matched up there,” defensive coordinator Bryan Nardo said. “I am not worried for one second about how he’s been.”

A couple of other big plays deserve recognition, though, starting with the 26-yard connection from quarterback Alan Bowman to receiver Brennan Presley. This completion led to the Cowboys’ first touchdown of the day thanks to a 20-yard run from running back Ollie Gordon.

Gordon continues to build his case for the Heisman trophy. Tonight, he finished with 155 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns, making this his sixth-straight game with 100 yards rushing or more. Though these numbers aren’t as impressive as they have been the past couple of games, Gordon played consistently and explosively.

The Sooners came in expecting the Cowboys to continue hammering the run game like they have been the past few games. However, Bowman had something different in mind.

Bowman got hot early and quickly connected with receivers Rashad Owens and Brennan Presley to put the Cowboys ahead. Coach Gundy and the Cowboys knew coming in that they could not afford to let OU get ahead from the start and did a great job at running with their competition.

With the win, Gundy secured his 100th Big 12 win and his 40th win against an AP Top-25 opponent. Next up, the Cowboys will face the University of Central Florida Knights in Orlando, Florida.
