Oklahoma State Headed Back to Arlington and Big 12 Championship Game

STILLWATER – No. 20 Oklahoma State is headed back to Arlington and the Big 12 Championship game for the second time in three seasons following the double overtime win over BYU. 

They’ll face the No. 1 seeded Texas Longhorns for an 11 a.m. kick on Dec. 2, which will be televised on ABC.

This will mark the first match-up between the Pokes and Longhorns this season, as the Cowboys played all four new Big 12 schools and none of the original Big 12 schools in Texas. The Longhorns are currently ranked No. 7 in the country, but will most likley move up as they beat Texas Tech on Friday, 57-7.

The Pokes are currently riding a two-game win streak over the Longhorns, having won 32-24 in Austin in 2021 and 41-34 in Stillwater in 2022. They’ve also won six of the last eight games against Texas and nine of the last 13 games.

According to Oklahoma State stats and information, the Cowboys became the ninth Power Five Conference program to make more than one league championship game over the last four seasons, joining Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, Oregon, USC and Utah.

It also marked the first time in program history the Cowboys have overcome back-to-back double-figure deficits to win, trailing by 14 points last week to Houston and 18 points to BYU, scoring 21-unanswered points, three touchdowns by Ollie Gordon II, in the second half.

Speaking of Gordon II, he became the first OSU running back since Barry Sanders in 1988 to rush for five touchdowns in a game. It also marked his eighth 100+ yard rushing game of the season.
