Oklahoma State Cowgirls Back on the Mainland Beat Missouri State

STILLWATER – With five Cowgirls scoring in double figures, Oklahoma State's women's basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak with an 82-51 win over Missouri State in Gallagher-Iba Arena Sunday afternoon. This game was the Remember the Four game that honors former OSU head coach Kurt Budke and assistant coach Miranda Serna as they perished in a plane crash while recruiting along with the couple that was flying them, Olin and Paula Branstetter.
OSU gets back to .500 with the win, improving to 3-3 on the season and 2-0 at home. The win came in the first of a four-game homestand that will continue next Sunday against Wyoming.
Anna Gret Asi led the way for Oklahoma State, scoring 24 points on 9-13 shooting and 6-9 from behind the arc. Quincy Noble finished with a season-best 19 points on 5-6 shooting, while Lior Garzon and Stailee Heard each had 12. Rylee Langerman posted 10 points and seven rebounds to round out the Cowgirls in double figures.
OSU shot 55.8% from the field and 55.6% from three while tying the program record with 15 made three pointers on 27 attempts. On the defensive end, the Cowgirls allowed just 18 points in the first half and held the Lady Bears to 28% shooting on the game.
In a competitive opening quarter, the teams traded baskets, with Garzon burying a pair of early triples for OSU. Asi closed the quarter with her first three-ball of the game to give the Cowgirls a 15-12 advantage heading to the second period.
Oklahoma State would break the game open in the second quarter, going on a 19-0 run over a five-and-a-half-minute stretch in the period. Asi scored 11 and Noble added 8 in the frame as the Cowgirls outscored the Lady Bears 26-6 in the quarter. They also held Missouri State to 2-14 shooting and 0-4 from three in the period.
Coming out of the half, Oklahoma State led 41-18.
OSU extended its lead in the third quarter, getting nine points from Noble and a pair of threes from Garzon. Going into the final period, the Cowgirls led by 30.
Missouri State scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter, but Oklahoma State put together a 13-0 run to seal the win, 82-51.
Freshmen Mia Galbraith and Brenna Butler made their Cowgirl debuts in the win, scoring two points each. Praise Egharevba made her second start of the season for OSU, pulling down eight rebounds and scoring one point.
