Who Knew? Cowboys Cheez-It Bowl Win Puts Pokes Program in Tall Cotton
STILLWATER – Bowl Season, the organization that was recently rebranded from it’s days as the College Bowl Association, just sent out their postseason newsletter. Besides a large article detailing how the Rose Bowl and the Cotton Bowl came together to stage the CFP semifinal labeled as the Rose Bowl and moved because of COVID-19 restrictions to AT&T Stadium, there were notes of varying distinction from the recent bowl season. One of those notes involved Oklahoma State and their 37-34 win over Miami, Fla. in the Cheez-It Bowl in Orlando, Fla.
You see with the win in the Cheez-It Bowl, Oklahoma State now moves into third place in bowl win percentage for schools with 20 or more bowl appearances.
It is pretty prestigious company as the top 10 schools include USC, Alabama, Penn State, Georgia, and Auburn.
Because many of Utah’s wins in bowls came outside the Power Five, Oklahoma State is technically the second place team as a Power Five bowl team. Seven of Oklahoma State’s bowl appearances have come in New Year’s Six games.
Virtually half of their bowl appearances have come under the leadership of current head coach Mike Gundy with 15-straight bowl trips.
Here is the list as it appears in the newsletter.

1 | Utah | 17 | 6 | 0 | 24 | .739 |
