Oklahoma State's Jaden Bray Goes into the Transfer Portal

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State red-shirt sophomore wide receiver Jaden Bray has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. Bray went in the portal early Monday morning and became the sixth Cowboys player to go in the portal and the second receiver joining Blaine Green, who went in on Dec. 8. The six players in the portal from OSU include quarterback Gunnar Gundy, the son of OSU head coach Mike Gundy; freshman defensive tackle Ricky Lolohea, who left the team in August; safety Lardarius Webb Jr.; and walk-on offensive lineman Jake Henry.

Bruce Waterfield/Jerod Hill/OSU Athletics
Bray touchdown catch at WVU,

Bray this season played in 10 games and had 30 receptions for 382-yards and two touchdowns, one at West Virginia and the other at Houston. He averaged 12.7-yards a catch.

Coming out of Norman High School where he had been a basketball star and had put together a strong junior season for the Tigers as a wide receiver. His senior season in football was diappointing with a quarterback that was not a good thrower and a three yards and a cloud of dust offense.

His talent was immediate at Oklahoma State as a freshman with 13 catches for 250-yards and two touchdowns. He played in only three games his second season and ended up with a red-shirt after an injury in fall camp.

His career numbers are 48 receptions for 686-yards and four touchdowns.

Could've been a good one. Hopefully better injury luck in the future. Any word if Leon Johnson will be able to return?

Mason Gilkey, cabiness, Tykie Andrews, Cameron Heard, Jalen pope, Tre griffith, shettron, owens, stribling. Who am I missing. Youthful but lotsa potential. I imagine there are a "few" portal prospects too. Loved Bray but ....

YIPES!!

That seems scary thin.... only 8-9 guys for 4-5 positions. That's barely enough for a 2-deep

Pretty solid group of starters if Presley returns, but a lot of unproven guys after that. Losing Bray hurts, but I imagine there will be a couple portal additions to balance the WR room.

Maybe we'll see some of them in the bowl game.

Robert already confirmed, through his sources, that Brennan Presley is returning.

This was in Robert's story he posted yesterday:
"I've been told that Gordon II along with some other standout players like linebacker Nick Martin, slot receiver Brennan Presley, linebacker Collin Oliver and others have negotiated suitable NIL arrangements to keep them Cowboys for next season."

This is what I show on WR's... remember the portal is a two-way street

Imagine with De'Zhaun Stribling due back as well as Talyn Shettron returning that had something to do with Jaden Bray moving on. Also, Brennan Presley's return may have influenced Blaine Greene's decision to go.

I'm guessing our NIL $$$ were not enough. Could be we've exhausted our ability to substantially increase the NIL $$$ for certain positions/players.

How much do you expect a guy like Bray to get? I highly doubt he has significant NIL money banging down his door. He's a dime a dozen player at most any P5 school. Maybe somewhere like Tulsa gives him a few extra bucks?

Unfortunately both Bray and Green have been injured since they got here. They will get some help in the portal.

Not a question as to what I expect. It's about what Bray expects. If there's one thing the portal has taught us, half the kids think more of their abilities than the rest of the world.

In spite of rumor about NIL contracts to be signed this week, I have a hard time believing that Ollie stays put.
He would again be behind a not good enough O-line. What could he show the world if he plays for a team with a solid O-line? How much payola is Texas going to tempt him with? But miracles do happen, so he might stay if the Okie oil and cattlemen cough up some big bucks. Gundy needs to throw in a few of his millions to sweeten the pot. Les Miles did that one season when he requested that part of his salary be used to pay assistant coaches.

show me the evidence that the OSU OLine is "not good enough". How do you measure that? What are your metrics? Show me those metrics for your comparable team (e.g., Texas). How did those UT running backs do?

you're just blowing smoke, aren't you? You sound like a Poke hater, not a fan. That is not an objective assessment that you posted.

How about you rephrase and repost to indicate how the OLine needs to improve in order to keep Ollie at OSU (according to you). What do they need to do differently?

The Offensive schemes were new, the plays were new, the QB was new, the TE/FBs were new

C'mon man. He just led the NCAA in rushing and won the Doak Walker, so the line must be decent enough. He may leave chasing $$$, but he has every opportunity at OSU to lead the country in rushing again and then bolt for the NFL. Leaving would be a definite unknown for him, could get into a split carry situation or whatever. I would say from a purely football perspective he is better off staying, but that isn't necessarily what drives CFB right now.

Yeah, who'd want to play behind an OL that blocked for the RB that lead the nation in almost every single rushing category? Or that gave up only 5 sacks in league play. Bums, every one of them. I'd leave too.

Ollie's got one more year. He can stay here in proven waters, get paid, and take a shot at a Heisman before heading to the NFL. Or, he can head somewhere else for a bit more money, and take on a whole new situation that may or may not be best for him.

I think it's a pretty clear choice for him.
