Incoming Transfer Portal Update for Oklahoma State

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State has six players in the NCAA Transfer Portal as of Monday, Dec. 11 with wide receiver Jaden Bray going in Monday morning to join receiver Blaine Green, quarterback Gunnar Gundy, safety Lardarius Webb Jr., walk-on offensive lineman Jake Henry, and defensive lineman Ricky Lolohea. What about who the Cowboys are looking to pull out of the transfer portal? Director of Recruiting Todd Bradford and his staff have a recruiting class numbering around 18 ready to sign on Dec. 20, but there will be additions to the OSU roster through the portal. In fact last season, despite some media conjecture that Oklahoma State was a big portal loser, the media and portal analysts had to compliment Oklahoma State’s prowess in the portal with contributors like De’Zhaun Stribling, Leon Johnson III, Anthony Goodlow, Justin Kirkland, Dalton Cooper and others.

I don’t believe that Oklahoma State will be looking for a quarterback. They have Garret Rangel returning and freshman prospect Zane Flores. They will sign California standout Maealuiaki Smith from Serra High School and he will enroll in January. Also, starter Alan Bowman is applying for a waiver for extended eligibility.

I do believe the Cowboys on offense will look for some receivers, offensive linemen, and tight ends.

Arizona State University Athletics
Isaia Glass playing in the 2022 season.

Lets start with offensive line as Isaia Glass of Arizona State is on a visit having come in on Monday. The 6=5, 295-pound Glass played in three games this season after playing a lot the year before. The Queen Creek High School product from San Tan Valley in Arizona. He had an ankle injury and opted to sit out the season and red-shirt giving him two years to roll.

As we wrote, he is visiting Oklahoma State and also has offers from the likes of Tennessee, Michigan State, Houston, and BYU. Oklahoma State should be a good sell on Glass.

University of Arkansas Athletics
Devon Manuel of Arkansas.

It turns out that after the commitment of Easton Kilty of North Dakota that Oklahoma State had reached out to Devon Manuel the 6-9, 310-pound offensive tackle from Arkansas. He is scheduled to make an official visit starting on Friday. Manuel started four games this season including the games with LSU and Missouri. Manuel red-shirted at Arkansas and is a red-shirt sophomore meaning he has two more years to play. He is originally out of Sunset (Beau Chene), La. and was recruited by the likes of Iowa State, Indiana, Michigan State, Houston, and Louisiana-Lafayette out of high school. He is definitely a tackle prospect as it seems are most of the offensive linemen that the Cowboys are showing interest in out of the transfer portal.

Texas A&M University Athletics
Remington Strickland against LSU.

Then another offensive linemen attracting a lot of attention is Remington Strickland of Sugar Land (Fort Bend Christian), Texas. He is in the portal out of Texas A&M, Oklahoma State’s bowl opponent in the Tax Act Texas Bowl. Strickland red-shirted in 2021, played in two games in 2022, and then played in seven games this past season. The 6-4, 300-pound Strickland has drawn as much attention as any linemen that I’ve seen in the portal.

Besides Oklahoma State you have overtures or offers from California, LSU, Houston, Baylor, UTSA, Vanderbilt, Maryland, Arkansas, Tennessee, SMU, and Arizona State.

Indiana University Athletics
Jaylin Lucas

Moving on to receiver the only one I’ve found is Indiana slot prospect Jaylin Lucas. The 5-9, 170 pound Lucas is out of Louisiana. I have him from New Orelans Enda Karr. I’ve also seen Terrebonne too. Lucas is the proverbial scat back type that can line up nearly anywhere. This past season for the Hoosiers he had 67 carries for 275-yards and two touchdowns. He also caught 34 passes for 247-yards and two touchdowns. He has 875-yards all purpose and he is a prospect to reurn punts and kicks.

UK Athletics
Jordan Dingle is from Kentucky.

Tight end on the radar include Kentucky’s Jordan Dingle. Dingle is a sophomore out of Bowling Green, Ky. He has plenty of overtures and should at 6-4,240-pounds. This season he caught 11 passes this season for 198-yards and he has 33 career receptions for 472-yards with three touchdowns.

Ryan Carsen is from UCLA and originally American Fork, Utah. Carsen is a big-time athlete that played in all 12 games this season with eight starts. He had 13 receptions for 205-yards and three touchdowns.

A couple of defenders to mention from the direction of Utah as cornerback JaTravis Broughton is a 5-11, 190 pound senior orginally from Tulsa Union. He has played in 46 games for the Utes and started 29 of those., He was a prep star at Tulsa Union and was part of two state championship teams.

Finally, one of my favorite portal prospects in this class is Syrus Webster. The Junior defensive end is 6-4, 245-pounds and out of West Jordan, Utah, a prep powerhouse.

Utah Tech Athletics
A Webster tackle in the 2022 season.

He was teammates with Oklahoma State’s current nose tackle and also out of Utah Tech ix Justin Kirkland. Kirkland reposted that Webster is his guy,

This past season Webster ran up some crazy numbers with 79 tackles, 12.5 tackles-for-loss, 7.0 sacks, and four fumbles caused. He has offers from Oklahoma State, Kansas, Colorado State, San Jose State, Indiana, Washington State, Hawaii, Fresno State, and West Virginia.

Don't see it mentioned anywhere about CO being gone, so best not to speculate.

Also RA, when you mentioned Jaylin Lucas (Indiana WR), does that mean coaches are interested in him or he's just a guy in the portal you like?

Robert said "Behind the scenes, I've been told that Gordon II along with some other standout players like linebacker Nick Martin, slot receiver Brennan Presley, linebacker Collin Oliver and others have negotiated suitable NIL arrangements to keep them Cowboys for next season."

I saw a Twitter pop up on Colin Oliver. Thanks to OSU but I'm gone. Looked real but I haven't seen confirmation from Robert or anyone.

hmmm.... I dunno... but it sounds a bit to crass to be a legit statement from him.
