Ohio Tight End Tyler Foster Commits to Oklahoma State
STILLWATER – There was no doubt that with the short and successful career of transfer Josiah Johnson that Oklahoma State was going to be looking in the transfer portal for a player of similar size and maybe even more experience. The Cowboys want to expand the role of the in-line tight end in the offense. They gained that kind of player when Ohio University tight end Tyler Foster committed to the Pokes while on his visit. The 6-7, 250-pound Foster is a legit college tight end. OSU had a lot of success with Johnson, a transfer a year ago from UMass where he had played some quarterback and big wide receiver.
Foster, who arrived in Stillwater on his visit on Wednesday and will head home on Friday (Jan. 5), has played 16 games as a tight end, starting most of those. He has 33 receptions for 396-yards and four touchdowns. He caught a 10-yard touchdown pass (pictured at the top of the article) in the Ohio overtime win over Wyoming in the 2022 Arizona Bowl. This season he caught 20 passes for 211-yards and that included receptions against Iowa State in the Bobcats win over Iowa State and the 41-21 Myrtle Beach Bowl win over Georgia Southern.
Foster is originally out of Pinkerington, Ohio where he earned second-team All-State honors at Pinkerington North High School as a senior with 32 receptions for 495 yards and five touchdowns. In his prep career he had 62 receptions for 825 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was recruited by Pittsburgh and Ball State before signing with Ohio.
Foster is still on his visit to Oklahoma State and is scheduled to leave on Friday morning. He would then be expected back sometime next week to start orientation and moving in to begin the spring semester at Oklahoma State.
