Oklahoma State Finishes No. 16 in the Associated Press Final Poll for 2024

STILLWATER – Overnight the Associated Press (writers and broadcasters) released their final college football poll for 2024. In the aftermath of the the 34-13 win by Michigan in the CFP Championship Game it was clear cut who was No. 1 with the Wolverines tops and Washington with that game game being their first loss coming No. 2. Oklahoma State finished 10-4 with a bowl win over a wounded, but still talented Texas A&M team 31-23. The AP voters had the Cowboys finishing No. 16. That’s fine, but they were one away from being No. 15, kind of a big deal to make the top 15. Oklahoma was No. 15. The Sooners were sloppy and were beaten by future Big 12 opponent Arizona in the Alamo Bowl. That was OU’s final game as a Big 12 member. Oklahoma State took the final Bedlam game in the regular season winnign 27-24. 

I get it, there is an inherent favortism to OU and other blue-blood programs for the AP. Finishing No. 16 is solid and puts OSU in a projected strong position for next season. The Athletic had Oklahoma State No. 12 in one of their “way too early” top 25 predcitions for next season.
