Gunnar Gundy on the Go Again in the NCAA Transfer Portal

STILLWATER – Former Oklahoma State Cowboys quarterback Gunnar Gundy had been at Ohio University for two weeks. He had moved into an apartment and was settled in with classes and going through offseason workouts for the Ohio University Bobcats. It seemed like a good fit as the OSU graduate and son of Cowboys head coach Mike Gundy was striking out on his own armed with his degree scholastically and his skill set of a solid left arm and better than average speed and running ability athletically. Gundy appeared to fill a void for the successful OU football program that saw it’s quarterback from a year ago transfer to Indiana. However, Gundy on Tuesday morning (Jan. 23) went back into the portal.

As a graduate, Gundy can go back in but time is not on his side as he attempts to look for a better home as a prospective starting quarterback.

Gundy’s welcome to Ohio social media post.

“I know that I’m not the next quarterback at Oklahoma State,” Gundy said after the Tax Act Texas Bowl and his 10-yard touchdown run in the contest. “I want to find a place where I have the opportunity to be the quarterback and play a lot of football.”

He had seemed very excited about Ohio, the coaching staff, the team, and the offense there. He had already helped recruit a receiver prospect to the Ohio program. He had cancelled visits to other schools, but it is known that Toledo, Central Michigan, South Dakota, and Northwestern had shown interest in Gundy.

At Oklahoma State, Gundy completed 40-of-73 passes for 449-yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions. This past season he was 21-of-34 for 202-yards and a touchdown against Arizona State. He led the Cowboys to two scores in the opening win over Central Arkansas. He also ran 15 times for 49-yards and the touchdown in the bowl game this season.

Any word on the reason GG dumped Ohio so quickly?

There is some talk out in the wild that he has a girlfriend here and he's homesick and missing her. Don't know how valid that info is.

It's all FAKE regarding the Alabama stuff! It apparently was being put out by some guy over in Arkansas who was running a fake Gunnar Gundy account!
