STILLWATER – Today was a day off in the West End Zone, but tomorrow freshman tight end from Stillwater Josh Ford will be back in the weight room going through his workout with the Oklahoma State strength and conditioning staff. The 6-6, 242-pound Ford is off to a good start in his workouts and it is no surprise. That’s why it was not surprising when Ford was named All-State by the Oklahoma Coaches Association and selected to play in the annual All-State game. This is the All-State honor that comes with the gold and blue All-State jacket. Ford will be on the East Team, but likely will not be able to play due to his college commitment at Oklahoma State. He was joined in being named to the OCA All-State team and the game by fellow Oklahoma State freshman LaDainian Fields. Fields, from Del City, was named to the West All-State and selected to play in the game.

Fields has been selected as The Oklahoman Defensive Player of the Year for this season. He played both ways for Del City and head coach Robert Jones. On defense he had 75 tackles and seven interceptions and he returned an amazing four for touchdowns. On offense he had 72 receptions for 1,450-yards and 22 touchdowns. He also returned three punts for touchdowns. His cousin Rodney was an All-State return specialist that is also a freshman-to-be at Oklahoma State that rushed for 1,650-yards and had 330-yards on kickoff returns including a touchdown.

Ford was named to the OCA All-State team as a tight end, but was named to The Oklahoman All-State second-team and All-Big City team as a defensive end. On offense Ford caught 39 passes as a junior and senior for 377-yards and six touchdowns. He is a devastating blocker.

On defense Ford had 59 tackles this fall playing for Stillwater head coach Chad Cawood. He had 17 tackles-for-loss with five sacks and a fumble caused.
