STILLWATER – Raylon Carter was an early offer compared to many in the 2025 class by Oklahoma State. The Fort Worth Southwest High School standout is a different kind of athlete. How amny times do you see a defensive end, 6-4, 235-pounds that also plays running back and runs the 100 meters in track. I’m going to take a guess and say not many or more-then-likely none. This season Carter earned first-team All-District 4-5A-II honors at defensive end. He finished with 62 tackles, 10 tackles-for-loss, two sacks, 16 quarterback hurries and three forced fumbles.

Okay, on offense he carried a modest 27 times for 101-yards and four touchdowns. He focused more on defense as a junior, but as a sophomore he carried 78 times for 347-yards and three touchdowns. He is really something to see when he rumbles with the ball out of the backfield.

“I like carrying the ball,” Carter said. “It’s been fun and I’m in track right now preparing for the 100-meters.”

He has a personal best of 12.58 seconds in the 100 and I’m betting there are not a lot of defensive ends that do that.

“I had a great time (Saturday),” Carter said as he brought Fort Worth Southwest teammate Jahbori Cooper with him. “It was fun just doing the tour, taking pictures, and seeing everything.”

Carter now has offers from Arizona State, Tulsa, UTSA, North Texas, and UAB. He has been invited to TCU among other campuses for unofficial visits. He’s been to Oklahoma State multiple times.

“Oklahoma State for sure is number one,” Carter said. “i really like Coach (Paul) Randolph. He is a great communicator and I really enjoy talking to him. I felt like I had known him for a long time and really it hasn’t been that long.”

I get the sense that Carter is going to be a prospect that commits earlier, like in the spring or summer, rather than later. The way he talks about Oklahoma State I believe thay are in good shape. He is very strong and as evidenced in that he passes guys in the 100-meters, he can catch running backs. You could say it helps to be one to catch one.

He is scheduled to be back in April for an official visit.
