Cowgirl Tennis Tops Rankings for First Time in Program History
STILLWATER – For the first time in program history, Oklahoma State's women's tennis team was ranked No. 1 in Wednesday's ITA rankings, receiving all 13 first-place votes.
The ranking comes on the heels of the Cowgirls capturing their first ITA Indoor National Championship on Monday in Seattle, Washington, with a 4-3 win over No. 2 Michigan in the final.
OSU is 9-0 to begin the season, it's best start since 1987, with two wins over No. 2 Michigan and wins over No. 3 Stanford, No. 6 Texas, No. 9 Ohio State, No. 10 Pepperdine and No. 12 Auburn.
Other Big 12 teams appearing the rankings include Texas at No. 6 and Oklahoma at No. 19.
No. 1 Oklahoma State now looks ahead to the final stretch of its non-conference schedule before opening Big 12 play at the beginning of March. This weekend, the Cowgirls will travel to Tempe, Arizona, to take on No. 24 Arizona State looking to keep their perfect record intact.
