STILLWATER – Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball team beat No. 25 West Virginia, 68-61, Tuesday night at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

The senior-night win improves the Cowgirls to 14-14 on the season and 7-10 in conference play. It is also the fourth win for OSU over a ranked opponent in the Jacie Hoyt era.

Anna Gret Asi led all scorers with 22 points to go with six assists. Senior Quincy Noble added 15 points and seven rebounds while Hannah Gusters scored 13.

Oklahoma State shot 49% from the field while holding the Mountaineers to just 38% shooting and 23% from three. The Cowgirls also logged 17 assists on 24 made baskets and led for all but 1:58 of game time.

The first quarter played close, with each team searching for rhythm on the offensive end. OSU would find it first, putting together a 6-0 run to close the quarter and take a 16-12 lead to the second.

The teams went back to trading baskets in the second until the Cowgirls found another 6-0 run midway through the period. A three-quarter-court heave from Asi would find the bottom of the net as time expired to send OSU into the half with a 35-26 advantage.

The third quarter saw an uptick in offense on each side, with Oklahoma State outscoring West Virginia 24-22 in the frame. Jorda Harrison would score 13 of her 22 in the period for the Mountaineers, but the Cowgirls managed to fend off any runs to take an 11-point lead to the fourth.

West Virginia turned up the full-court pressure in the fourth quarter, forcing OSU into nine turnovers in the frame. It wouldn’t matter though as the Mountaineers were held to just 13 points in the final quarter as the Cowgirls polished off the 68-61 victory.

Having now won two of its last three and three of its last five, Oklahoma State will travel to Waco on Sunday for a battle with No. 21 Baylor at 11 a.m. looking to build momentum toward the postseason.
