A “Royal” Commitment for Oklahoma State in the Receiver Corps in the 2025 Class

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is famous for using different types of receivers as they go from multiple formations on offense. Big receivers like current standouts Rashod Owens, De’Zhaun Stribling, and Talyn Shettron have lots of opportunities and success as do receivers like Brennan Presley that line up more inside but can move around. The 5-10, 170-pound speedster from powerhouse Cibolo Steele was visiting Oklahoma State over the weekend and then committed before leaving. He waited to make his pledge to the Pokes public on social media on Tuesday afternoon (April 16).

Hudl
Royal Capell

Capell is considered pretty much universally as a top 100 Texas recruiting prospect in the 2025 class and a top 20 wide receiver prospect and that includes Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine and our good friend recruiting editor Greg Powers.

Capell was hosted on his visit by offensive coordinator and wide receiver coach Kasey Dunn, wide receivers recruiting specialist Josh Gonzales, and his player host was Presley. We caught up with Powell several times including Saturday’s Oklahoma State practice and the event at O’Brate Stadium for the Cowboys baseball game on Saturday night. He always seemed to be having a good time.

His performance has been strong for the really potent Steele offense as he had 59 receptions for 788-yards and five touchdowns in the 2023 season. As a sophomore, he made a spectacular debut with 62 catches for 767-yards and six touchdowns. He is also a track athlete that is capable of sub 4.5 in the forty and he has a new personal record this spring in the 100 meters at 10.99 seconds.

He has over 15 offers from schools including, of course Oklahoma State, Baylor, Cincinnati, Duke, Houston, Indiana, Oregon, OU, Missouri, and UNLV.

Capell makes for seven commitments to the Cowboys and that also includes wide receiver Kam Powell of McKinney (North), Texas, who visited this weekend and was there at OSU along with Capell. There are three wide receivers in the 2025 class so far as that includes Matrail Lopez of Idabel, Okla; offensive tackle Ryker Haff of Owasso, Okla; offensive lineman Jaylan Beckley of Addison (Trinity Christian), Texas; and original 2023 signee Isaiah Kema of Wolfforth (Frenship), Texas; and the lone defender so far in the class in linebacker Kyle Keya of Wichita (Kapaun Mt. Carmel), Kansas.
