STILLWATER – Oklahoma State’s lone 2025 high school signee, Jeremiah Johnson, has requested his release from the class and is reopening his recruiting process. This was first reported by 24/7 High School Hoops on Twitter.
Steve Lutz and the coaching staff now have three scholarship spots to fill, and at this time late in the spring, I wouldn’t expect them to sign a high school prospect.
Johnson originally committed to Mike Boynton back in September 2023 and signed a few months later. He then stayed committed to the Pokes following the firing of Boynton and the hiring of Lutz.
Originally out of Norman, OK, before transferring last spring and graduating from Utah’s Wasatch Academy, Johnson competed with PHHoenix Prep in Phoenix, AZ.
The 6-4, 170-pound point guard checks in as the No. 136 overall prospect in the 2025 class, the No. 12 point guard and the No. 9 overall prospect out of Arizona, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
Based on the most recent commitment and signing by Lutz, talented La Salle point guard, Khalil Brantley, and how long Johnson stayed after Lutz was hired, it seems Johnson wants to try and go to a school where he can see the floor immediately as a point guard. Lutz has signed two point guards out of the transfer portal, Brantley and FIU transfer Arturo Dean.
