Oklahoma State Picks up Another Defensive Line Pledge in Alex McPherson

STILLWATER – IMG Academy defensive end Alex McPherson has committed to the Oklahoma State Cowboys. McPherson made his official visit back in April with his father and had a good visit, but he was back on campus on Monday, June 10 with his mother.

You have to show mom and once the 6-4, 250-pound defensive end did and mom was good, McPherson told head coach Mike Gundy, defensive coordinator Bryan Nardo and defensive line coach Paul Randolph he was coming.

McPherson started for IMG Academy last season after starting his high school career at Martin County High School in Florida.

McPherson is an active defensive lineman that has a good pass rush but is also dependable as a gap defender against the run. He had double digit sacks last season and double-digit quarterback hurries. For his size, he shows outstanding quickness off the edge in pass rush. He is strong enough to hold his gap and defend the run. He uses his hands well to get rid of blockers.

He has 18 offers including the likes of Pittsburgh, Boston College, Indiana, Michigan State, Ohio, and Washington State. Oklahoma State became real serious for McPherson as an option when Mike Gundy hired Randolph as the new defensive line coach. Oklahoma State offered and McPherson made an unofficial visit before coming back the second weekend of April for his official visit and then the most recent unofficial with his mom this week.

McPherson is the 13th commitment for the Cowboys this 2025 cycle and there is another expected this week. He is either the third or fourth commitment on the defensive side of the ball. This is as far along in recruiting on the second week of June as Oklahoma State has ever been.
