STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is in the mix to land one of the top in-state prospects following a successful official visit this past weekend.

Nickson spoke with Pokes Report following his official visit, which you can read here, saying he was down to Oklahoma State and OU, and possibly Mississippi State. Obviously, just the in-state schools. In the article, you can read about the reasons why Nickson chose to come to Stillwater on an official visit, who his player hosts were, which included a national award winner, as well as how his visit went.

EIY Basketball

Nickson checks in at 6-5, 230 pounds and is a four-star, top-100 prospect according to ESPN. He plays tight end and defensive end for Weatherford, but he’s listed as a top-five athlete in the class and the Cowboys are recruiting him as a DE, but it’s easy to see him playing tight end as well.

This past season as a junior, Nickson recorded 34 catches for 577 yards and five touchdowns on offense, with 54 tackles, four tackles for a loss and one sack on the defensive side of the ball.

He’s also a standout basketball player, which he’d like to continue at the next level. He currently plays his AAU ball for Team Griffin, averaging more than 12 points per game on the EYBL circuit. If it hasn’t already happened, I’d expect Nickson to be in touch with Steve Lutz and Co. soon.

Don't take this as a "Debbie downer" post, but have we ever gone one on one in a recruiting battle with the soons and won? I know we had to have won a few but I can't recall one.
