STILLWATER – Happy Father’s Day everybody and I know that includes some of you recruit-niks like me. I honestly can’t remember a more organized and systematic recruiting campaign ever for Oklahoma State than this one for the 2025 cycle. First, before we get into my projections and rights and wrongs, you have to start with the recruiting and coaching staff.

Question:

Middle of June seems really early for OSU to have so many commitments (historically speaking). Is the staff doing an unusually exceptional job of getting kids in earlier and getting them to commit, and/or do you think this is the new normal due to expanded staffing and organization of recruiting events, or is it a anomaly or a bi-product of the adaption of the portal, when quality kids can be added at any time, so the HS kids are eager to land their spot when it arises?

Does anybody have any thoughts or opinions on the current nature/status of the recruiting cycle?

Staff
I can give you my opinion. Oklahoma State now has a complete recruiting staff meaning each position has two sets of eyeballs evaluating the prospects and the recruiting staff is keeping constant connections with the recruits. Example, Eddie Simpkins helps Tim Rattay with quarterbacks and he was very involved in helping Adam Schobel learn more about Oklahoma State and communicate the OSU recruiting pitch. It helped and you end up with a four star quarterback flipping his pledge from Baylor to Oklahoma State. Now the departure of the coach recruiting him at Baylor helped as well. The offensive line was finished early, so Charlie Dickey and Zach Allen (yes, my son) moved on and are way into recruiting the 2026 and 2027 offensive line. O-line is a position where you do have to wait for development. The numbers are far from finished on which prospect are the best for 26 and 27 but you can get a head start on those now. They were checking their lists heavily at the Down and Dirty Camp and not looking at 2025s except for preferred walkons.

RA, Since Duger is on board at RB, do you see the staff still pursuing another RB in the class, a guy like Michael Turner, or are we pretty much done on the offensive side of the ball this cycle in your option?

Robert - Patmon can't weigh 280 and play corner. Might want to check the calibration on the scales.

Thanks Robert.

I figured that more coaches was part of the equation. I'm not sure what we'll do if we have to cut staff like A$M did to prepare for the "stupid money" for kids penalty.
