STILLWATER – The additions are coming now with longer separation as the transfer portal has closed and more thorough examination is going on before filling the last three scholarships available with Oklahoma State basketball. New head coach Steve Lutz and his staff used one of those three positions on Wednesday to take the commitment of journeyman Patrick Suemnick.

The former West Virginia post player/forward announced his commitment to the Cowboys on Wednesday on Twitter/X. he is 6-8- and 235-pounds giving Lutz some of the size he was seeking on the roster.

Suemnick originally committed out of the transfer portal to DePaul in April. He never enrolled and joined Depaul and now has switched to Oklahoma State and Stillwater. He is not on campus, but it is believed he will arrive in time for the second semester of the summer session.

Suemnick takes a shot against Cincinnati.

Last season with the West Virginia Mountaineers, he started six of 32 games played and averaged 4.1 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. He shot 53.9 percent from the field, and he scored a career-high 20 points with six rebounds in the win over No. 3 Kansas. The season before he played in 21 games, averaging 5.4 minutes per game. He averaged 1.4 points and 1.3 rebounds per game and was a +17 in 11 minutes and had two points and four rebounds against Kansas State. he also played two minutes against Oklahoma State that season with no stats.

As we said, Suemnick is a journeyman having started his college career at Robert Morris before spending a season in the junior college ranks at Triton College in River Grove, Ill.

Suemnick has taken an interesting path to get to this point. After beginning his career at Robert Morris, Suemnick spent a season in the JUCO ranks after eventually finding his way to WVU.

Suemnick is originally from Green Bay, Wis. and attended Denmark High School.
