Gabija Galvydyte Earns Spot in 2024 Paris Olympics
STILLWATER – A fifth Oklahoma State athlete is headed to the 2024 Olympic games in Paris, France, as Gabija Galvydyte qualified on Sunday evening in the 800 meters, representing Lithuania.
Qualifications for Galvydyte place her No. 44 in the world rankings with 1,224 points.
Her Olympic spot comes just a little more than a month after a third-place finish at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships. She posted a time of 2:00.23, her third-straight podium finish in the 800 meters.
As mentioned, Galvydyte is now the fifth current or former OSU athlete to earn a spot on their respective country’s Olympic team, joining Chase Jackson (USA) Ieva Gumbs (Lithuania), Ariadni Adamopoulou (Greece) and Jacob Fincham-Dukes (Great Britain.)
