What Would the Big 12 Look Like with Notre Dame, Clemson, FSU, and Miami?

STILLWATER – Let me lead this story off with the thoughts that any chance of Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark pulling off the acquisition of independent Notre Dame, ACC cornerstone schools Clemson and Florida State, plus Miami, Fla. is very slight and the thought of this happening is premature.

No pass here - I'd love to charge forward with the addition of those four schools (or even 2 of them!). Intriguing for certain. I really like the catalyst-factor that Yormark brings to the business side of the conference

yeah, I get it, and I'd love to charge forward with the addition of Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan and Clemson...

just more click bait nonsense, and now even Robert is clicking on this stuff.

Three things must occur for this to happen:

1. FSU and Clemson must win their lawsuits to get out of the ACC with only an exit fee (so that they retain their TV rights). If this happens the ACC will collapse like the PAC 12.

2 & 3. The Big 10 and the SEC must refuse to take these teams. Highly unlikely.

I don't see any chance for ND. And, I don't believe that Dellenger or Scheer were talking about them. The situation is pretty simple.

The B1G wants ND and is willing to take whoever they want to come with them. That's most likely Stanford. It also helps that the B1G contract stipulates a fee increase to all teams in the B1G IF ND is added. So that's hard for BY to match. ND has met with the B1G and SEC so there is probably some coordination here, but they needed FSU/Clemson to be the bad guys.

The SEC wants UNC and would be willing to take their coattails to get them. So very likely that NCState, UVA, & VT are headed to the SEC.

That really doesn't leave much space for FSU/Clemson. So the Network 2 are probably willing to pay them & the Big XII to be the bad guy again and take them and a few select others they desire. So Miami, Louisville, Pitt, & Duke fit that move. This does 2 things for Fox it gives them the SE market they want, and for ESPN it means they don't lose those 6 brands (nor the 4 headed to the SEC) so their losses would be minimal.

Then you have the three conferences that give the top end a clear division for break away.

Now that's a lot of movement and someone can balk or doggedly cling to their 1st desire and cause things to go some other way.

Well Brett McMurphy lays it out today. B1G & SEC don't want FSU. ND is not going anywhere that FSU is going. Brutal comments from people in B1G & SEC on why FSU is not going there.

So with an exit in process and no where to go, the Big XII is the only option unless they think they can pull of independence.

More from Jason Scheer: FSU/Clemson/Miami/NC State are Yormark's chosen targets. I think the first 3 are solid not sure about NCSt.

LOL, that's funny right there.... I bet it would make "financial sense" immediately if ESPN or FOX said they were in favor of it.... Frankly, the SEC already has Florida, so they have as much of that north Fl. market as they need. B1G already has the EST zone from the NE, so not a lot of additional advantage for them.

I personally can't stand the Atlanta Braves tomahawk chop chant that they use.... it's as annoying as hearing boomer sooner all game long.

oh, and that X piece says "according to sources" (wink, wink, wink) meaning: I got nothing but I'm going to say it anyway -- click bait

No sources means he has many individuals at the SEC & B1G talking on this subject, and both conferences are taking steps to tell FSU they don't have a home there. Maybe after other things are settled.

As for SE FOX wants schools there, not ESPN, and they would favor FSU/Clemson to the Big XII if they can't get them in the B1G. And, it looks like B1G is pretty much off the table for those 2.

Brett McMurphy doesn't engage in click bait and the leaders of both conferences wanted this out there so they told him these things and gave him the clearance to publish them. That's the way this works.

As for a super conference forming with PE the last two days Sankey has made it clear that won't happen. Any new structure will be built around existing conferences.

So, today here they start to rollout the real breakaway and "super league".

that article is just a bunch of more nothing, which is what Dodd is best at.

Nothing new there since the Commish introduced it in December, except for Sankey saying it's only one idea, and more ideas will be evolving.

That proposal mostly went out the window with the proposed court settlement regarding revenue sharing.

Regardless, I've said all along that there would be a new subdivision of the money teams, and the rest will not be able to afford that upper subdivision.
