STILLWATER – So much has been made of all the experience, the returning starters on both sides of the football when talking up the optimism with Oklahoma State for this coming season. That said and considered, the media still picked the Cowboys third in the preseason Big 12 poll. In a season where the expectations of Oklahoma State fans are Big 12 title, CFP selection, and beyond then the returners from last season are a fantastic start but you better add on to it.

These two will be great to see on the field a bunch. Nnodim, DE, is one of the freshman that will be fun to watch develop and play too. Excited for a better defensive performance this year. GO POKES!!!

If the Pokes defense could take a big jump up this season and just be middle of the conference it could be a great year! Second year under a new coordinator on either side of the ball usually results in improvement. BTW Goodlow and Benson were both starters last season so I count 9 starters returning. Still a good amount though.

If they can stop the broken coverages resulting in receivers running loose for big pass plays, there will be a big jump.

100% agreed! D gave up to many big plays last season. I can't find the stat but I believe they were last in the Big12 in plays over 20 yards. Fingers crossed that Nardo can get big improvement from this group!

here is one blurb, after the UCF game...

Oklahoma State football's defense continues to be haunted by big plays. Can it be fixed?

this is the line that jumped out at me....

Of course, not all of the big plays have been through the air. The last three opponents, Cincinnati, OU and Central Florida, each had a touchdown run of at least 63 yards.
