It seems the national recruiting sites team rankings are not as accurate a barometer of recruiting success as previously. Programs are taking vastly different numbers of HS recruits given the portal impact. Just look at the Rivals and 24/7 2024 ranking of UCF (not a blue blood BTW) with six 4-star recruits vs UNC or Miss St. or Purdue. UCF only had a total of 17 HS recruits vs the others in the upper 20's. Maybe the average rating of a program's recruits is more accurate of the recruiting year success than the actual team ranking.

The transfer portal CHANGED EVERYTHING, plus the NIL was gasoline poured on top of the fire!!! Many schools now devote half their scholarship allotment to NIL transfers!!!

They obviously haven't been very accurate OR our coaches are the cream of the crop. Supposedly average recruiting classes winning in the national top 10 over the last 10 - 15 years.

I lean a little more to the latter and think our coaches and the training staff are outstanding. Winning as much and as consistently as the Pokes have under Gundy is impressive.

Likely some of both......our coaches recruit under- appreciated diamonds in the rough due to their efforts and focus on a type of developmental player, then do very well on most game and prep coaching.
