Kobe "K.T." Hylton Is The Pokes Report NIL Journalist for the 2024 Season
STILLWATER – The alumni list is solid with center Danny Godlevski, linebacker Xavier Benson, and quarterback Alan Bowman. This will be the fourth season that Pokes Report has contributed to the NIL of Oklahoma State football with real NIL.
Our NIL journalist will share with you during the season his thoughts on the team, his background and thoughts on any topics he chooses, and give you a behind the scenes look at what it is like to be a college football player at the highest level in the year 2024. This season that will be transfer safety Kobe “K.T.” Hylton.
Here at Pokes Report if we are going to pay a player for his name-image-and-likeness to share with our subscribers we’re going for a little exclusivity. Last season with Bowman this was the only place you could hear from the veteran quarterback until head coach Mike Gundy released him to speak with the media after the loss at Iowa State. We take advantage of the Mike Gundy “first-year player” rule about not doing media until he decides to let them speak for the program. We get that rule, actually agree with it, but we like to choose an athlete that falls within the rule but is mature enough to speak for Oklahoma State football.
Hylton is certainly a guy that fits that. He is also a player that is going to play a lot of football, a lot of important football on the OSU defense. We believe he will wind up being a starter at safety.
“Kobe Hylton is a great addition,” safeties coach Dan Hammerschmidt said this summer. “He is a great leader, great kid, transferred here from Texas-El Paso. He reminds me of Jordan Sterns, when he used to play here. He’d grab a Gatorade and a plate of wings and go up and watch video until 11 o’clock at night all the time. That was his deal. That is the same attitude that Hylton has, K.T. is all about football. He knows it is his last go round and he wants it to be a great one. He has never been at a big-time place like Oklahoma State.”
“I think he picked me three times in the spring,” quarterback Alan Bowman said of Hylton. “He is a really good safety and football player.”
To be honest, Bowman actually was one of the names he suggested when we were talking about who would follow him as the Pokes Report NIL journalist.
“I want to do that,” Hylton said after we discussed the role. “He is a natural team leader and spokesperson. Mike Gundy doesn’t have to worry because Hylton will say the right things.
Hylton is from South Gwinnett High School outside of Atlanta, Ga. He started his college career at Long Island University where started two of eight games he played and had 11 tackles playing both corner and safety.
My son, Zach Allen was head coach at NEO and recruited Hylton from LIU. He played in six games for the Norse in the 2020 season with 19 tackles, an interception, nine passes defended, a fumble caused, and a sack.
He transferred to Louisiana-Lafayette where he sat out as a redshirt. He then went to UTEP and played two seasons. His first season he had 92 tackles, 10.5 tackles-for-a-loss, three passes defended, five QB hurries, two fumbles caused, and a blocked kick. One of his fumbles forced came in Norman against Oklahoma and he also had eight tackles against the Sooners.
He earned honorable mention All-Conference USA. The next season he earned the same honor with 54 tackles, four passes defended, two QB hurries, two fumbles caused, and one fumble recovered.
Hylton is a high energy player that you can tell loves the game of football. We feel he is perfect to be our NIL player reporter for you here at Pokes Report.
We expect his first report will come out this weekend. All of Hylton’s reports will be Premium content here at Pokes Report.
