Jacob Fincham-Dukes and Ariadni Adamopoulou Advance to Olympic Finals
STILLWATER – Former Oklahoma State track & field athletes Jacob Fincham-Dukes and Ariadni Adamopoulou advanced through the qualifying rounds of the Long Jump and Pole Vault, respectively, for spots in the Olympic Finals.
Fincham-Dukes faltered on each of his first two jumps before leaping himself into the finals with the very last jump of the competition. His third and final jump measured at 7.96 meters, which placed him eighth overall in the first round. Fincham-Dukes is competing in his first Olympic Games for Great Britain after placing fourth at the European Championships earlier this season and fifth at the 2022 European Championships. The 12-man Long Jump final takes place Tuesday at 1:15 p.m. CT.
Adamopoulou cleared 4.40 meters as she tied for fifth overall in Qualification Group B. She is also competing at her first Olympic Games after earning her spot via world rankings. Adamopoulou will be looking to become the first Cowgirl to earn an Olympic medal Wednesday at 12 p.m. CT.
